Alpenglow Biosciences, a Seattle biotech startup that develops 3D spatial biology imaging technology, announced Thursday that it landed a $2 million research grant from the National Institute of Health, and a $1 million investment to further develop its platform.
- The company’s co-founder, Jonathan Liu, also won a contract for up to $21 million to develop tech for precision tumor removal. It’s part of the BIden Administration’s Cancer Moonshot initiative.
- The 20-person company, which spun out of the University of Washington in 2018 and was formerly known as Lightspeed Microscopy, is led by CEO Nicholas Reder and was co-founded by Liu, a UW professor, along with Adam Glaser and Lawrence True.
- Alpenglow has 20 employees. The company’s investors include Alexandria, Dynamk Capital, First In Ventures, Hamamatsu, Mayo Clinic, and WRF Capital.
